Arsenal midfielder Jorginho insists that the Gunners remain focused on their own game, unfazed by Manchester City striker Erling Haaland‘s incredible start to the season. Haaland has scored nine goals, including two hat-tricks, in City’s perfect Premier League campaign thus far.
Ahead of Sunday’s showdown at the Etihad Stadium, Jorginho acknowledged Haaland’s remarkable goal-scoring feats but emphasized that Arsenal’s focus remains on themselves. “Erling scoring again… it is starting to make us laugh,” Jorginho said. “It doesn’t get to our head. We need to focus on us, and that’s what we are trying to do.”
Arsenal, who finished second to City last season, are just two points behind the league leaders after securing three wins and a draw in their opening matches. Jorginho praised the team’s mentality, highlighting the gritty 1-0 win over Tottenham despite missing key players like Martin Ødegaard and Declan Rice.
The Italian international stressed that if Arsenal want to achieve big things, they must aim to win every game. “We are on the right way,” he added, ahead of the crucial match against City.
Haaland will have an opportunity to score his 100th goal for City in all competitions before the weekend, as they face Inter Milan in the Champions League. Meanwhile, Arsenal will begin their European campaign against Atalanta on Thursday.
