Rangers Football Club has officially announced the departure of men’s first-team manager, Michael Beale, following a string of disappointing results and mounting pressure from supporters. Beale had been in charge for just ten months at Ibrox.
The decision to terminate Beale’s contract was prompted by a series of underwhelming performances this season, with Rangers falling seven points behind league leaders Celtic in the Premiership after just seven games. Additionally, the club failed to advance to the Champions League group stages, suffering a 7-3 aggregate defeat to PSV Eindhoven.
The 43-year-old manager, who returned to Rangers after Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s departure last November, was unable to secure any silverware in his first campaign at the helm. Beale underwent significant squad changes during the summer transfer window, which drew criticism, especially regarding the performances of high-profile signings like Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers.
In response to Beale’s departure, Rangers FC issued a statement expressing gratitude for his efforts since rejoining the club. The statement also confirmed the termination of contracts for coaches Neil Banfield, Damian Matthew, Harry Watling, and Jack Ade.
The club announced that Steven Davis would lead an interim management team, which includes experienced coach Alex Rae, current coach Steven Smith, coach Brian Gilmour, and goalkeeping coach Colin Stewart.

John Bennett, Rangers Chairman, commented on the decision, saying, “It is clear that results have fallen well short of the board’s, Michael’s, and our supporters’ expectations.” The search for a new manager is already underway as the club aims to make the right appointment for the future.
Michael Beale’s dismissal marks a significant development in Rangers’ quest for success and a return to form in the Premiership.
