Serbian Goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic Joins Chelsea on a Long-Term Deal

The 23-year-old shot-stopper, who has earned two caps for the Serbian national team, has committed to a lengthy contract, spanning seven years, with an option for an additional year.

After progressing through the ranks and gaining experience on loan at FK IMT, he made his senior debut for Cukaricki in 2019. Petrovic swiftly established himself as the team’s primary goalkeeper, accumulating an impressive tally of 86 appearances for the club.

In April 2022, Petrovic took a significant step by joining Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution. He rapidly became a pivotal figure in the Revs’ squad, making 21 appearances in the 2022 season. His standout performances earned him nominations for the MLS Newcomer of the Year Award and the MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Award. Petrovic’s consistent displays continued into the current season, with an additional 22 appearances, and he even had the honor of representing the MLS All-Stars against Arsenal in a showcase event this summer.
